Bart Slangen doorbreekt op kousenvoetjes de perfectie vanuit de idee dat je niet moet schilderen wat je ziet, maar dat je de zichtbare wereld kunt anticiperen.\nHij leidt ons rond in een wereld die we herkennen maar die toch bevreemdend is, een wereld die niet echt gebonden is aan tijd en ruimte. Uit zijn beelden spreekt een ietwat melancholisch verlangen naar schoonheid, zuiverheid en toch ook perfectie.

Bart Slangen concentreert zich op ongewone landschappen, zoals bijvoorbeeld een autosnelweg met brug. Schildertechnisch cre\u00ebert hij in zijn groengetinte beelden een soort bevreemdende 'valavond' of is het integendeel 'het uur tussen hond en wolf', het ochtendlijk moment van twijfel over welke richting het nu uit moet? Zijn werken stralen in elk geval zowel rust als onrust, intimiteit als afstandelijkheid, zekerheid en twijfel uit. Die dualiteit maakt ze precies zo boeiend.

Het werk van Bart Slangen oogt in een eerste blik eerder gewoon, zowel landschap als portret. Maar toch voel je een soort bevreemding\u2026<\/p>

Door het weglaten van bepaalde elementen -in zijn landschappen zie je zelden of nooit\neen menselijke aanwezigheid- en het monochrome kleurgebruik cre\u00ebert hij een melancholische en mysterieuze sfeer. Het blauw-groen-grijze palet zorgt voor een niet exact te bepalen tijdstip, een mistige ochtend of opkomend duister. De \u2018pixels\u2019 zijn een metafoor voor een parallelle wereld of een portaal naar deze (droom-)wereld.<\/p>

De werken van Bart stralen onrust en twijfel maar ook intimisme en romantiek uit.
Zijn schilderijen zijn technisch bijna klassiek maar de oorspronkelijke helderheid en scherpte wordt bewust voorzien van een troebel glacis, een laag ruis. Ze balanceren tussen een fotografische en geschilderde eigen wereld. Steeds weer die dualiteit die zijn werk zo eigen maakt.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
